Look, I love a good calibration print as much as the next person. But the real magic of 3D printing is solving problems that nobody else even makes a product for.
Here are my top 5 functional prints — all designed in late-night sessions, all still in daily use.
1. The Universal Remote Caddy
My couch kept eating remotes. So I designed a caddy that clips onto the armrest with a friction fit. Holds 3 remotes and a phone. Zero screws, zero adhesive.

- Iterations: 3 (getting the clip tension right was tricky)
2. Under-Desk Cable Highway
A modular cable management system that snaps together. Each segment holds 4 cables and clips to the desk edge. I printed 8 segments for my whole desk.
- Material: PLA (doesn’t need heat resistance under a desk)
- Print time: 45 min per segment
- Iterations: 2
3. The Impossibly Perfect Phone Stand
15° angle for video calls, 45° for watching content, with a USB-C pass-through channel and a weighted base. This one I’m genuinely proud of.
- Material: PLA with a PETG base plate
- Print time: 3 hours
- Iterations: 5 (the angle changes were worth it)
4. Spice Rack Drawer Insert
Custom-measured for my kitchen drawer. Each spice jar sits in its own slot at an angle so you can read the labels. My partner said this is the sexiest thing I’ve ever done. I’ll take it.

- Iterations: 1 (measured twice, printed once — for a change)
5. Headphone Hook with Cable Channel
Mounts to the side of my monitor with 3M tape. The headphone hook has a channel that routes the cable down cleanly. Simple, elegant, works perfectly.
